Shokuntola (শকুন্তলা): One of the performing art and cultural projects directed and delivered during lockdown was this international initiative from World Literature Centre (Bishsho Shahitto Kendro). This is a dramatised reading and presentation of Ishwarchandra Bidyasagar’s “Shakuntala” written circa 1854. 25 artists from 3 continents devoted their time and talent to produce this masterpiece which was shot on their individual mobile phones at home. We revisited the early years of Bengali Renaissance and connected our present time of uncertainty and chaos.
