BSK UK

About us

Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, UK (BSK UK) is a not for profit organisation solely run by volunteers. BSK UK was established in London in 2002. It promotes the dictum of “Alokito Manush Chai”, a call for enlightenment through knowledge, creativity and inclusion.
At BSK UK we work closely with the community. Our journey started in the heart of London’s East End more than 20 years ago. Since then we have been working in partnership with the local Government, community & voluntary organisations and academia.

Although working mainly with Bangladeshi community, our aim is to promote world literature including in the forms of culture, heritage, arts, and aesthetics. BSK UK also creates platforms for the Bengali community facilitating the discussion and debate between multi generation on their identity.

As an organisation, we aspire to be a catalyst for change, create cultural awareness and connect with the community at grassroot level. We are actively encouraging participation from diverse groups through delivering talks, cultural festivals, reading circles, performing arts, workshops and publications. Most of our works have been bilingual (Bengali and English) to include participants from all cultural backgrounds at local, national and international level.
